and he was kind enough t come to the studio himself and even now the CD bears his beautiful Tamil Speech by Revathy Krishna 5:45 PM ↑0

Ma'am, your favourites? by The Hindu 5:46 PM ↑0

he was very fond of instrumental music and always used the terminology "Vaarthai sollum vadhiyam" by Revathy Krishna 5:47 PM ↑1

There was a full instrumental concert of his songs in which I was also a part of during the new years day.. in bangalore. He hand picked the songs that he wanted me to play and said he wanted to specially hear it on the veena.. the songs were isai kettal from thavapudhalvan and pullangkuzhal kodutha from his devotional album by Revathy Krishna 5:49 PM ↑0

Ma'am, do you categorise his songs...? Say, classical, raaga-based, devotional etc? by The Hindu 5:53 PM ↑0

Revathy Krishna

I would choose Maadhavi Pon Mayilaal, Mugathil Mugam Paarkalaam, Sivagami Aada vandhaal for raaga-based. And he has composed some character-oriented songs. For eg, Neeyum Naanuma in Kauravam. The entire song is in high pitch, reflecting the ego of the character! A soft and romantic song...is Kaadhal Malar Kootam. And his best is the cosmopolitan Bharatha Vilas song!

EVEN WHISTLING WHICH IS ONLY A FORM OF RELAXATION WAS MADE A MELODIOUS MUSICAL INSTRUMENT BY THIS WIZARD--TO BRING IN MOODS OF ROMANCE, YOUTHFUL EXUBERANCE, SORROW AND EVEN THALAATU... CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF M.S.V. WAS THE FIRST TO USE A PARTICULAR THEME MUSIC FOR DIFFERENT MOODS IN A FILM--SUMATHI EN SUNDARI IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE....AND USING DIALOGS AS PART OF A SONG--NOBODY DID IT BETTER THAN M.S.V. HE WAS ALSO THE FORE RUNNER IN CONDUCTING MUSIC WITH SYMPHONY STYLE ORCHESTRA--"ENGEY NIMMATHI" I AM A PARTICULAR FAN OF HOW HE USED THE BONGOS AND DRUMS IN INNUMERABLE SONGS. AND WHAT GREAT ORCHESTRA PLAYERS HE HAD.... by Y GEE MAHENDRA 5:58 PM ↑0

A lyricist's delight. He ensured that his music didn't pin down the great lyrics he was fortunate enough to get from the likes of Kannadasan, Pattukotai, Mathurakaasi and others!. There in lies his genius. He did a great balance between stamping musical aesthetics while retaining the clarity of the lyrics. A thing today's talented young crop should pick up from him. For this, Tamilians will be ever grateful. Personal favourite from the top of my mind would be "Neeerodum Vaigaiyelle" (Paar Magaley Paar) , "Ellorum Kondaaduvom" (Paava Mannippu) and "Aadaludan Paadalai Kettu" (Kudi Iruntha Koil) by Kayal 5:59 PM ↑0

MSV' alias "Ninaithaale Inikkum" by sv kumar 5:59 PM ↑0

most spontaneous composer,i know for a fact that he has composed so many alternates for a particular situation in no time that the Directors and actors were found groping to select the best for every tune of his was unique and beautiful had it been possible to record the discarded songs ,we would by now have another 10000 songs of his to enjoy. by ramesh vinayakam 6:00 PM ↑0
