Google has launched a new lane guidance feature for its popular Google Maps app on iOS and android platforms enabling the users to see and hear voice guided instructions on which lane they should stay. The new feature is available in 20 major cities in India, Google said on Thursday.

The new feature will be available for major roads in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Pune, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam. Those using the app will now be able to receive lane guidance also on the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

Google Map app users could also choose to hear the voice guided instructions in English in Indian accent and Hindi also.

Commenting on the launch, Google's Director of Product and Program Management Suren Ruhela said Google's goal was to continue making Google Maps for mobile into a handy travel companion for user in India.
