Stay woke
Did you know the CIA actually fact-checked Black Panther for this year’s Oscars? According to a tweet sent out by the CIA on February 25 at 7 am in the morning — because why not — they asked people on what they considered to be Vibranium.
The tweet read, “In #BlackPanther, a unique metal called #vibranium helped the fictional African nation of #Wakanda become the most technologically advanced country on the planet. #ReelvsReal #Oscars Do you think vibranium is a real metal, based upon real materials, possible future tech or total fiction?” Well, 55% of voters won out with ‘total fiction’.
Before you think the Central Intelligence Agency are off their rockers, they’ve been doing a series of tweets hashtagged #ReelvsReal, in which they’ve been taking polls on whether certain aspects of films or TV shows are real in the eyes of the audiences. The series, available to peruse if you head over to their Twitter account, chats about all this technology and futurism, laying out their facts. I say their facts because, let’s face it, we’ve seen enough headlines to know exactly what the CIA may be up to.
Got breakkie?
Believe it or not, but Reddit is also a place to just chat about the mundane things. Posted by u/runningeek, the simple question of what everyone had for breakfast today went almost as viral as an apocalyptic disease outbreak.
Observing the habits of people can make for a fascinating ethnographic study.
One responded, “Maggi at 6 am, idli and chutney at 9 am,” while another stated “ Dosa , pongal , vada , halwa , chutney, sambar and kiwi juice! Friend’s wedding!!” Looks like someone looks at Reddit as a must-do for the daily routine. One brave person explained, “Last night’s leftover pizza reheated on chapattitava, along with scolding from wife as while reheating burnt the tava .”
Someone went the more healthy route with a simple “2 raw carrots and coffee,” while another more contemplative individual shared, “Still thinking while lying on bed and therefore trying to transition directly to lunch!!”
Some would raise an eyebrow at this, calling it incredibly useless and a waste of time. But what this thread, simple as it is, shows is how diverse we are plate to plate.
