Deadpool’s back at it again
“From the studios that brought you 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada ,” Deadpool aka Wade Wilson is back. We see Wilson coasting through life, pleasing his girlfriend and being the vulgar vigilante with whom we’re all obsessed.
The trailer of Deadpool 2 , which has garnered over 40 million views across just Facebook and YouTube within 24 hours of its release, vows a May 18 release, after Avengers: Infinity War — so there are bound to be some anti-Iron Man and anti-Captain America jabs in the film. And in true Deadpool style, the poster itself is a hilarious and non-personal dig — well, I don’t think so — at ‘80s hit film Flashdance .
I’ve already watched Deadpool 2 ’s trailer about a dozen times, purely because it has a combination of my favourite things: raunchy humour, superheroes and the promise of the young X Force, a franchise that, according to Deadpool himself, “will hold itself for at least 10 to 12 years.”
Crossed over crossovers
And speaking of Infinity War , the internet calling the film the “biggest crossover in history” is probably an overstatement. Anyone remember Space Jam or all the times Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart met up?
Netizens luxuriated in similar memes, particularly ones where better and more profound crossovers have been named, be it Windows 95 tutorials with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry, or Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles having a ball in Shell Shocked . And Paris Hilton, who’s been mic dropping a lot more lately (especially since that viral video with W Magazine), called her night out with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears the biggest crossover in history. Now, we might as well stop trying.
Psyched for Serkis
Anyone in the mocap industry will herald 53-year-old actor Andy Serkis as the king of portrayals.
The Black Panther cast member is known more for his work as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings , the 2005 version of King Kong and Caesar in the newer Planet of the Apes franchise. But a video of the actor doing real-time acting for Osiris Black from 3Lateral has gone ballistic across the cyberspace.
It’s not just the nuance of Serkis’ work — from every twitch to tear — it’s also the stunning reflection of the Meta Human Framework by the Unreal Engine softwares, propelling the future of mocap in new and stunning ways. Check it out, it’ll blow your mind.
