The office space of GrabOn on the fourth floor of Krish Sapphire defies every norm of a conventional IT firm’s interiors. What stands out here is the personal touch added by its team.

Right from the dishes on the cafeteria’s menu that are named after films (like Swadosa , Bajrangi BhaajiJaan , Jurassic Pork in a list they’ve called Indian Food Data Base ), to the design for talk spaces (ideated like STD booths), you realise the value that multi-coloured visual elements add to the space. To the right of a red glass-walled table tennis zone, there’s a wall that tells their story. The elements include a pathway, a mountain, a gateway, with several numbers signifying the highs that they’ve had through the years. “Whenever we’re down, that’s a spot we look for inspiration,” the CEO Ashok Reddy adds.

GrabOn comprises 48 employees who aren’t bound to the desk through the day. There are meeting spots, hangout zones where they can cling onto beanbags of attractive hues, chairs with a whole lot of cushions thrown in, while the glass backdrop offers them a panoramic view of Madhapur. What enhances the appeal of these spots is the natural lighting that dominates half of the space. The standout element though is the provision of bunk beds between the cafeteria (that offers snacks more or less) and the workspace, a handy space that’s widely frequented for quick naps. A mini-gymnasium and a gaming spot also serve to help them relax, de-stress and get back on track.

Most walls bear a collection of posters with quotes that inspired GrabOn’s founder Ashok Reddy at different phases of his life. You’re welcomed to his room with a quote by Steve Jobs.

Beginning in 2011 with a team of five, GrabOn’s journey towards becoming a leader in the coupon industry involved a relook from the design perspective from time to time.

“That’s the change you see when employees are given the freedom to design the space. Our space is unlike those of our counterparts for the same reason,” he asserts. The firm that played host to the first mannequin challenge organised by an IT firm in the city, has plans to move into a 150-seater space soon.
