Search engine giant Google has marked the 30th ‘birthday’ of arcade game Pac-Man by featuring the classic video game on its home page.

Instead of its regular logo, Google’s front page now features a playable Pac-Man game. It would be available for 48 hours, Google said in a statement.

The Google doodle Pac-Man, complete with music and sound effects, has an ‘Insert coin’ button where the ‘I am feeling lucky’ one usually is.

“In celebration of the 30th anniversary of one of the world’s most recognised gaming icons, Pac-Man, we are pleased to announce our very first interactive and playable doodle,” the statement read.

Google uses the doodles, introduced in 1998, to mark holidays, events and anniversaries of famous personalities.

Designed by Toru Iwatani, Pac-Man was first released by Japan-based Namco into arcades on May 22, 1980. The game’s popularity rapidly grew in North America, with more than one lakh units of the arcade machine being sold in its first year of production.
