Over two-thirds of India’s Gen Z, students in the 12-18 age group, use the Internet for school assignments, according to a survey conducted by Tata Consultancy Services. The second-most important activity is messaging.

Here's a chart comparing the Internet usage of boys and girls:

 

There is little to differentiate the gender-wise usage of messaging apps. The biggest differences emerge is the use of educational apps (the percentage of girls being significantly more – 59% versus 49%) and in the use of gaming apps (the percentage of boys being significantly more – 67% versus 46%).
