In the age of instant information, where one heads to the Internet for everything, new-age parents also tend to look online for information about key growth milestones of their child.
Vijay Anand and Neeraj Kumar Gupta discovered that not many sites here provide information about children from the time they are born through early childhood. The duo decided to set up Parentlane, India’s first social platform that helps guide parents with personalised advice on the overall development of their child from the time the child is born till 8 years.
Vijay Anand says, “The first eight years are considered to be the most critical life cycle stage for a child and lay the foundation for the child’s learning and holistic development.
The app tracks growth and development in six different categories — learning skills, social and emotional development, speech and language skills, gross motor skills, health and wellness and eye-hand coordination. Based on the assessment, the app recommends ways to build on a child’s weak areas.”
“We figured a market for such an app, based on personal experience and a great deal of research.”
Vijay quips, “We figured that during the pregnancy, most questions are answered by trained professionals, and regular check-ups make the task of keeping updated on the child’s health easier. Without a proper support base at home, young parents tend to worry about issues such as their kid’s head balance not being proper, or their muscle coordination not being up to the mark. This app not only aims at answering such queries, it also helps by creating a community, where people can share their experiences. It has a daily tracker that tracks the progress of the child by letting parents observe the child and answering some basic questions. All you need to do is to add your child and create a small profile. The app works on the basis of the data it collates from customers on the platform. We have also put milestone checks in place.”
He contends, “We have a great deal of engagement on the platform and have more than 15,000 users from across the country. The recently-launched feature, GrowthCheck is free on a trail basis for three months.”
