The new OS brings new aspects in gaming like activity in game center dashboard. iPad apps will be more capable with Desktop-class apps. New Reference mode introduced.
iPhone can be used as webcam
Macs can now automatically detect iPhones as webcam. Can be used with any videoconferencing apps like Zoom, Skype, Meet
Passkeys introduced
Launches new alternative of password called ‘passkeys’. This uses powerful cryptography, can work cross platform. Can be created by using biometrics.

Stage Manager gives Mac users a new way to stay focused on the task in front of them while seamlessly switching between apps and windows. Continuity Camera uses iPhone as the webcam on Mac and with Handoff coming to FaceTime, users can start a FaceTime call on their iPhone or iPad and fluidly pass it over to their Mac. Mail and Messages come with new features. Added new developer tools in Metal 3 to make gaming on Mac even better.
New MacBook Pro introduced
Introduces a 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by M2. Starts at $1299 and will be available next month.

This comes with all new lock screen that can be personalised with change in colours, background and fonts. Widgets can be put on the lock screen
What to expect from the event
Uncertainty over introducing any new device
Announcements of any new hardware products like its long-rumored AR glasses have less chances at a time when manufacturing is struggling, global economy is shaky and the ongoing chip crisis is still there.
It is also unclear whether Apple will tease the upcoming RealityOS in the event. However, all the other operating systems are likely to hint at a bunch of new features coming to Apple’s Mixed Reality headset, which can be unveiled later this year.
WatchOS 9, iPadOS 16 and macOS13 expected
The technology company is expected to unveil watchOS 9 that will update old Watch Faces to look better on bigger displays. It can also have a better low-power mode feature, new health monitoring features and improved operating and navigation of the Apple Watch.
Apple can also announce iPadOS 16 with changes like a revamped lock-screen and notification center, plus expanded functionalities to Focus Mode.
The company can also introduce macOS 13 Mammoth with some redesigned apps for Mac.
The new Software updates will offer a chance for Apple to upgrade its devices without relying on manufacturing that is hit by the pandemic. These updates can extend the life of a device.
iOS 16 announcement expected
Apple is expected to announce iOS 16 during the event. The new software update can bring an always-on screen, small “widget” apps on the lock screen and wallpapers with widget-like capabilities, an iPad-like split-screen feature for running apps side by side, social network-like functionality to Messages and new health features among other updates.
The always-on display option can allow users to glance at their iPhones when the screen is off to see the time, notifications and missed calls.
Such a feature has been available on Android phones for years but is still absent on the iPhone.
