“The School” by Ranjith Lal in “The Puffin Book of Spooky Ghosts Stories”

This week, we introduce you to a story by Ranjit Lal, titled “The School”. This story appears in “The Puffin Book of Spooky Ghost Stories” – collection of stories by Indian writers.

The School is the story of twins Salma and Sohail. School has always been boring for the twins who live with their “24/7-working” parents.

The Patnaiks had just relocated during the summer holidays. Their new home is located near the curiously named “Heaven’s Gate High School” that has for its motto, “Keeping young hopes alive.”

After embarking on a fun exploration trip, the siblings gradually realise things are amiss. To begin with, the school opened a week before theirs, yet there were no signs of activity.

Salma and Sohail may have stumbled on to something that was best left alone…
