Dvija, the rags-to-riches story of Drona | The Hindu Theatre Fest 2019 podcast

Dvija is the narrative of one of the greatest warriors of the Bharatha war — Drona. A man born to educate, also finds the need to fight. What starts as a fight for survival ends for him on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, losing everything he holds dear. His scruples, his values, and the love of his disciples. The play illustrates the conflict of choice each one of us faces in the battle for survival, the choice of selecting the right action.

Director’s Quote:

“I wrote the play Dvija fascinated by the line in the Bhagavad Gita, where Duryodhana places Drona above Bheeshma when recounting the warriors on his team. My attraction in creating this play stems from the deep psychological and physiological want humans have to seek validation and to excel in order to achieve it at any cost. Drona is brilliant at all he does, but his bonds to the mundane cares of the human world prove to be his nemesis. Dvija is the story of an extraordinary man who succumbed to ordinary emotions”.
