Modi-Xi Jinping summit: Wuhan, Mamallapuram, and beyond | The Hindu Analysis Podcast

A podcast on the second ‘informal summit’ between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, addressing the range of issues that is likely to shape the nature of the relationship between the two countries even beyond the Mamallapuram summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be discussing a myriad of issues pertaining to Sino-Indian relations, informally, at the shores of Mamallapuram near Chennai.

This is the second informal summit between the two world leaders, with the first one held at Wuhan, China, last year.

While no joint statement or MoUs are expected to be signed, much will depend on the “personal chemistry” between the two leaders. Kashmir, climate change, international border, trade, the Belt and Road Initiative, India's entry to NSG and India's longtime bid to gain a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council... there is an endless list of points to discuss between both the nations.

What to expect from the Mamallapuram summit and what is the way forward in the Sino-Indian relationship?

Guests: Suhasini Haidar, Diplomatic Affairs Editor, The Hindu; Ananth Krishnan, visiting fellow, University of Hong Kong
