I know of an octogenarian professor who could keep his students spellbound with his lectures on psychology and who has been blessed with a far more wiser wife. She got married as a teenager, gave birth to two sons and two daughters and later acquired a B.A. degree through a correspondence course. She could outsmart her hubby in her communication in Tamil as well as English. She has a prodigious memory of the birthdays and wedding days of everyone, whereas the professor could recall only his birthday and wedding day! She has an encyclopaedic knowledge of family finance, investment, house construction, marriage alliances, purchase of grocery, vegetables and what not? But his male ego stood in the way of recognising and applauding her wisdom!

The professor could lecture on intelligence, creativity, learning, motivation, personality and mental health pretty well. However, his intelligence was unidirectional. He wasn't worldly-wise! No wonder, he had to be a listener at home, leaving all decision-making to the Griha Lakshmi. As a matter of fact, no other woman could have put up with the stubbornness and intemperate nature of the professor! He would always remain a loser in family matters. Children adore the mother more than the father!

P.S. The professor is none other than the author of the article.
