Justice delayed: crores of cases pending across India

At present, there are 2.85 crore cases pending in lower courts across India. States with a high number of judge vacancies and a relatively low number of judges corresponding to their population, such as U.P., West Bengal and Bihar, tend to have a higher number of pending cases.

The number of cases that are pending for long are also higher in such States.
