The book in my hand

A weekly column on what well-known personalities are reading and planning to read.

This week, it is Satyabrata Pal and Radhika Apte.

The first book I am reading is Kissinger’s Shadow: The Long Reach of America’s Most Controversial Statesman by Greg Grandin. The other books I am reading are Husain Haqqani’s India v/s Pakistan: Why Can’t We Just Be Friends?, Seymour Hersh’s The Price of Power, and Christophe Jaffrelot’s Pakistan at the Crossroads. Satyabrata Pal is a former High Commissioner to Pakistan

I just finished Paul Johnson’s A History of the Jews. It is an incredible book with a very detailed history of the Jews. After every chapter is a big historical event. We are familiar with the event but we don’t know how it affected the Jews. Every chapter ends like an episode of a TV show, with a cliffhanger. You keep wondering what happens next. I didn’t know much about the subject and I found it a great read. Radhika Apte is an actor. Her latest film is ‘Phobia’
