The heart-warming story of a cancer survivor should inspire those with the disease (Open Page, “The tale of a gritty survivor’s battles”, July 21). Even members of the medical fraternity have often observed that the disease loses its sting when those who have it put up a fight. Survivors would do well to create awareness in the minds of those undergoing treatment of the need for early detection and dogged determination to fight back.
