The Karnataka crisis

July 15, 2019 10:43 pm | Updated 10:43 pm IST

Whatever be the rights or legality of the actions of the MLAs in Karnataka, are they performing their duties as elected representatives of their constituencies (Editorial, “Karnataka conundrum,” July 15)? Are they looking after the interests of the people? Are they being true to the oath taken at the time of their induction as legislators? They seem to be just blatantly advancing their own interests to claim power and position, which is their sole objective of getting into politics. Political parties nurture them for their own survival. Why doesn’t the public see through this game and protest against such grand betrayals?
