The forgotten soldier

more-in

The story of Sanju Ram, a former Indian Army soldier, was heart-rending (“Humiliating to be carried on palanquin: ex-armyman”, March 12). The government has been spending crores on memorials and publicity material, but soldiers like Mr. Ram are forgotten. One hopes that with the report on his plight and his need for quality prosthetic implants, people will respond and help him lead a life with dignity.

J.P. Reddy,

Nalgonda, Telangana

It is a shame that precious little has been done for a soldier who has helped keep us safe. Perhaps the media should take up his case and ensure that he is able to lead a decent and dignified life.

K. Joshi,
