Snail’s pace

 

 

The piece, “The Role of the Indian Woman.” (OpEd, “A Hundred Years Ago”, November 13), observed optimistically that the day had surely dawned when Indian women were going to play a decisive role in the country of their birth. In hindsight, we find the transformation (women’s empowerment) has been far from achieving a level to call it “bursting its fetter[s]”.
