Repair road
The road linking K. Pudur Moondrumavadi with Iyer Bungalow is in a very bad condition with big potholes. It is very difficult to drive vehicles on this road. Madurai Corporation should take up repair work on this road immediately

Share auto menace
Any motorist on city roads will understand the share autorickshaw menace. I travel 22 km across the city every day and it is such a nightmare. These autos are a nuisance on the roads as they do not follow any rule. They abruptly stop anywhere once they sight a prospective passenger, thereby taking the other vehicles following them by surprise.
They also blatantly stop at bus stops to pick up passengers and buses literally have no other option but to stop right in the middle of the road, thereby creating a traffic jam. It is a familiar sight at all bus stops. I request the authorities to look into the matter and ensure safety of other road users.

Police excesses
Recently, a young citizen lost his life due to excessive police action near Sellur bridge, while checking for helmet rule compliance. He was not a criminal and the police swung a lathi at him, which landed on the chest of the young businessman. News reports say that six policemen were involved in beating up this two-wheeler rider and leaving him to die. It is a barbaric attack on a citizen. It is excessive police action on their own people.

World Tamil Sangam
This refers to the report, ‘The best-kept secret of Madurai’ (June 17). It is true that the imposing World Tamil Sangam building is yet to become a star attraction. Becoming nostalgic at my age of 78, I remember the days during 1952-57, when I was living very near Tamil Sangam Road and my visits to the then Tamil Sangam library as a school student. I was studying in the nearby Setupathi High School. I now feel that the present majestic Tamil Sangam building, said to be not much frequented by people, could have been constructed at the end of Tamil Sangam Road on Thilagar Thidal, which is now used as a marketplace. All said and done, what is needed now is more publicity for the grand building in Tallakulam to enable greater involvement of people doing Tamil studies.
