Baba Ramdev's comments on some MPs — that they are “dacoits and murderers” — and Anna Hazare's defence of the yoga guru saying there is “nothing wrong” in what he said are shocking. Ramdev's remarks are insulting and derogatory. Instead of being unrestrained in their speech, parliamentarians and members of Team Anna should speak only as much as is essential.
They would do well to follow the Tirukkural (130) which says “our leaders should guard against careless speech and loss of temper; the rest will be easy.”

Parliament's prestige rests not on what someone says about its members but on what it does as an institution. The name and fame of parliamentarians are determined not just by getting elected to Parliament but by what they do in the public domain. If MPs have to be sensitive about anything, it should be about people's problems.
