No censorship?

During my sojourn in Delhi, I have found that the media gives precedence to reports that pander to the tastes of the vile and the depraved, much to the disillusionment of serious readers. No serious thought seems to be given to the agonising rise in the cases of rape and molestation, which one believes is due to the absence of a separate Censor Board for television. With the rise in TV channels and serials, one comes across horrendous scenes that make one recoil in horror. I can cite an instance where a popular channel telecast an objectionable obscene — of a son, on the instructions of his father’s foe, attacking and injuring his father in a gruesome manner. It is high time that the government steps in and ensures that such scenes are monitored or even excised from serials. Apart from imposing a heavy fine there is a need to debar producers from producing such serials. Such scenes are bound to affect impressionable minds.
