It is apparent that the Congress-led UPA government is in a state of absolute confusion (“Supreme Court expresses displeasure over Khursheed's comments,” Oct. 13). The incident of thinking aloud on the part of Union Law Minister Salman Khursheed is undoubtedly throwing an innuendo at the CBI as well as the Supreme Court not to be rigid in granting bail to the accused in the 2G scam. I think this will prove as an unerring hint, more to the CBI, not to be carried away by its professional zeal.

Mr. Khursheed's caution and concern is reflective of how the psyche of the ruling class works. Does it mean that the law should always look the other way when the elitist class represented by capitalists contravenes regulations? Such an attitude of servility towards corporates is unacceptable. It is time the Supreme Court passed some strictures on such behaviour, which reeks of contempt towards the law.

Political economy doesn't mean turning a Nelson's eye to fraudulent means of getting investments and ignoring the acts of omission and commission by those who indulge in unlawful acts.
Had it not been for the vigilant judiciary's activism, those who are in the Tihar jail would have had the last laugh.
