This refers to the article “The making of an Indian terrorist” (July 10). It is an accepted fact that Muslims suffered during Partition, the communal riots that followed the Babri Masjid demolition, and the Gujarat pogrom among other instances. This has influenced some youths to indulge in terror attacks with the active help of countries which have scores to settle with India. The youth are being used as pawns by their handlers to promote animosity and division among Indians. As a parent, I sympathise with the parents of the young men who have strayed because no parent would like to see his children handcuffed and chained in front of the media.
It is evident from the background of the youth who have been arrested for terror-related incidents, or have absconded, that they are from the middle class or poorer sections. I request the political parties to find ways to stop our youth falling prey to the sinister designs of terror groups, and provide them avenues for proper education and employment.

Zabiuddin Ansari is not an Indian terrorist; he is an Islamic terrorist. Every time a terrorist is caught, many sections of the media rationalise their acts saying they are the result of something society has done to them. If this is correct, surely the Kashmiri Pandits should have produced many terrorists? Such rationalisation ensures that the terrorists do not feel any remorse for what they have done. It is not only in India that terrorists are created. Who is to blame for the actions of others?
