‘I’m out of PM race’

March 18, 2014 01:12 am | Updated April 21, 2017 06:00 pm IST

There seems to a long queue of politicians for the prime ministerial post, starting with Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Nitish Kumar, not to rule out some eminent women politicians (“Pawar rules himself out of PM race, will not leave UPA,” March 17). Why don’t these leaders understand that a prime ministerial candidate should be one who has a national stature? The post must be equated with respect and dignity and must go to someone with a pan-Indian and secular vision. It is sad that the era of coalition politics has resulted in such a situation.
