In a country well known for its large numbers of temples and rituals, the proactive step being proposed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to issue certification along with labelling of temple prasadam is a welcome step. As the threat of food poisoning is manifold in mass cooking, such an initiative will improve quality standards. An extension of this measure to the products of all other mass cooking ceremonies can be thought of.
