The editorial “For equality all the way” (April 3) says leaving the determination of a woman's share in her husband's property to the courts will only add to acrimony and, therefore, there should be clear procedures. This is unfair and unreasonable. Do we not know that such causes are advocated only by women's organisations? Most of the cases filed under the anti-dowry law are championed by them.

In the absence of discretionary powers for the court, a wife can walk away with a fortune. It is unfortunate that the editorial has taken a biased view, taking little note of the complications involved.
