End of nightmare

With four persons dead and scores of innocent individuals injured in the Boston blasts, it is a big relief for not only Bostonians but all peace-loving citizens that a tough week has come to a close with the death of one suspect and the capture of the other. Unlike in the September 11, 2001 attacks, technology played a dominant role in zeroing in on the culprits of the Boston blasts, with the public aiding the investigative authorities by supplying photographs and visuals to piece the event together. Unfortunately, the same social media also spread false rumours.

With one suspect killed and the second caught alive, Barack Obama must have heaved a sigh of relief. The involvement of the two well groomed and smart looking Chechen brothers has given rise to the question why they did what they did. Why did they target civilians at a sports event?

Let us ponder why a democratically elected government in Chechnya was brought down. The question ‘why’ is also to be asked about American policies on Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Egypt and some more countries. Can America sleep peacefully when millions around the world cannot, thanks to the devastating military attacks on their civilian population?
