Drone strikes

The drone strikes by America are barbaric (“ >When Clean tech spawns a hunter state ”, Oct 26). This shows that Barack Obama is a serial interventionist when compared to George W. Bush. He has proved to be one of America’s most militarily assertive presidents since World War II, with his readiness to use force, driven by a penchant to act as judge and executioner.

The drone campaign of the CIA in Afghanistan and Pakistan has not only delayed American withdrawal but also ensured that withdrawal would be a protracted struggle. The U.S., since the 1980s, has interfered in South Asia and West Asia to further its goals at the expense of the people in these areas. The U.S.-Soviet clash in Afghanistan is the root cause of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and Afghanistan today. The U.S. has exacerbated this problem by using drones to snuff out terrorists but in this process, the CIA has trampled on the sovereignty of many countries and the right to life that it holds so sacred. Such a campaign will cause problems like the migration crisis in Europe and the breaking up of Iraq and Syria, while the U.S. watches.
