Digital India dream

October 03, 2015 02:47 am | Updated 02:47 am IST

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the U.S. has had a momentous impact on the people of both countries (“PM Modi dazzles Silicon Valley,” Oct.2). However, the question that arises is whether the concept of ‘Digital India’ can paper over the more pressing issues of food, housing and electricity confronting a majority of people here. Though a digital revolution may have a great impact on the growth of our economy, it will, at best, provide a secondary facility for the masses. The government needs to focus more on providing them with their primary needs.
