Dealing with insanity

March 03, 2012 12:02 am | Updated April 21, 2017 06:01 pm IST

The article “When insanity rules the world” (March 1) could not have come at a more appropriate time. India is home to many Islamic sects, which have, by and large, been coexisting peacefully. The government, in its dealings with Iran and Syria, should not take a stand that looks partisan in the eyes of some sect. Western nations can support or oppose a regime on the basis of their short-sighted, immediate needs. India cannot.

V. Balasubramanian,Bangalore

Democracy is the only weapon a big power can use to control smaller nations. The West has been playing this game since time immemorial in the name of bringing change in autocratically ruled countries.

It targets resource-rich countries. India should understand that the U.S. and the West use other countries for only their benefits.
