Congo election

January 14, 2019 11:34 pm | Updated 11:34 pm IST

One does not have to be a psephologist to know that there is something fundamentally wrong when there is a huge discrepancy between the vote percentage of the Opposition’s presidential candidate and that of the “official” winner in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is not surprising that the powerful Catholic Church in the DRC and many Western governments are now questioning the ‘result’. The discrepancy is too marked to be dismissed as a case of complaints by bad losers.
