Condemnable

Monday's attack on an Israeli embassy official's car in a high security zone in New Delhi is condemnable. The continued failure of our intelligence agencies is distressing. That the incident took place a few hundred metres from the Prime Minister's residence is unacceptable. It is unfortunate that nothing concrete is being done to step up security.

Gururajan Ramachandran,

Chennai

The blast yet again exposed the vulnerability of our intelligence and security set-up. The fact that it occurred at the VVIP area underlines the gravity of the situation. India is increasingly becoming a soft target where terrorists can strike at will.

Our practice of declaring high alerts and beefing up security after every terror attack will not help unless constant vigil is maintained, and punishment meted out to the culprits within a time frame.

E.M. Adithyan,

Edapal

The blast has exposed India's vulnerability to international terrorism. The country needs to catch up with the West in upgrading and updating emergency response systems.

N.J. Ravi Chander,

Bangalore

The attack should not be seen as a failure of the security agencies. Everyone cannot be tailed, even in high-security areas. However, a coordinated approach among the security agencies and vigilance on the part of the police forces are needed to prevent such incidents.

Hari Mohan Sharma,
