Blockade on Nepal

India’s current policy of subtle sanctions toward Nepal will come at a steep political cost (“China reopens biggest border trading post,” Oct.15). Nepalis attribute the crippling shortage of essential items like fuel and medicines to the “blockade” by India and consider it as an affront on their self-respect. Goods worth thousands of crores of rupees are stranded on the border, ahead of the festival season. Here, India has presented China with the chance it was looking for.
