B.G. Verghese

It was sad to read of the >demise of veteran journalist B.G. Verghese , whose last words that he had “a lot of unfinished business”, even at the age of 88, showed his total commitment to his journalistic career (Dec.31). His editorial comments on Indira Gandhi’s decision to merge Sikkim with India provides proof of his unbiased writing. I am sure his writings will be a treasure trove for all writers. His was an unblemished path, especially in the field of journalism.

B.G. Verghese belonged to a rare class of genuine journalists to whom courage and dedication were the key words. He will be missed in today’s world of compromised journalists and their media outlets.
