A great loss

Winner of Sahitya Akademi award and Padma Shri winner Nabaneeta Dev Sen died earlier this week after a protracted illness. Interestingly, the first collection of her poems came out in 1959, the year she married Amartya Sen. Besides her writing, Ms. Sen worked as a teacher in the Oxford University and the Colorado College in the U.S. and also taught Comparative Literature in Jadavpur University. Her absence will be felt by readers, students and well-wishers.
