A fine ending

October 25, 2017 11:58 pm | Updated 11:58 pm IST

Every dog has its day. It is indeed a fairy-tale ending for two-and-a-half year-old Luke, a Labrador mix that went missing on the sands of Chennai’s Marina beach from July 8, 2017 (Some editions, “When Luke met his loved ones”, October 25). It is unfortunate that the Tamil Nadu police, which once claimed to be an equivalent of Scotland Yard, did not pay much attention to the issue. Had the dog belonged to a VIP, they would have solved it like the case of a buffalo lost and found in Uttar Pradesh. Its owner, a Minister, had scores of policemen on their toes searching for it. News that the informer received a handsome reward could have been kept secret as such information will only encourage pet stealing.
