Vadra and DLF

The editorial “So many helping hands” (Oct. 8) aptly portrays the leaders of both the ruling UPA and the principal opposition party at the Centre in true light. There appears to be unanimity among political parties in looting the public. From media reports, it is certain that DLF parted with Rs.65 crore in the name of business advance to Robert Vadra, whose companies had shown only a capital of Rs. 50 lakhs in their books of accounts. DLF had also parted with valuable properties in favour of Mr. Vadra for a pittance. Why has DLF been so generous with Mr. Vadra and no other small businessmen?

This is typically how the aam aadmi is cheated by unscrupulous businessmen in their deals with politicians and their benamis. Corruption has reached alarming proportions under the UPA government. What the aam aadmi has got from this regime are high inflation, higher taxation and the highest devaluation of the rupee.

T.S.C. Bose,

The charges against Mr. Vadra cannot be ignored. The government should take a unified stand against scams and corruption and order an inquiry irrespective of the status and political affiliations of the person named. Only an independent inquiry against Mr. Vadra will reveal the truth.

K. Chandrasekaran,

I am sure this issue too will be swept under the carpet and people will move on. This has been happening for ages in India. Although the scale and magnitude of such an issue are beyond human comprehension, we have to accept that it is a foible in a society like ours where everyone wants to make a buck quick and easy.
