Tamil conference

June 05, 2010 12:32 am | Updated 12:32 am IST

This refers to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi's article “World Classical Tamil Conference — a perspective” (June 3). Tamil is the most ancient language in India. The conference at Coimbatore, it is hoped, will imbibe good values in the Tamil youth who are increasingly driven to modernisation. The conference should lead to cultural revivalism. The conference is set to become a world-class event.

K.R. Ramanan,

Chennai

That Tamil is the first living language to be accorded the classical status is heartening. Karunanidhiji's article was fascinating.

I wish him and the entire Tamil community all the very best and success in the upcoming conference.

Anshuman Dutta,

Guwahati
