Rahul’s trips

September 25, 2009 11:08 pm | Updated 11:08 pm IST

Rahul Gandhi is turning out to be a stuntman of the Congress. What did he achieve by secretly going to Uttar Pradesh and staying at a Dalit’s place except getting the satisfaction of successfully irritating Ms Mayawati? Someone who is seen as a future prime ministerial candidate should be raising the bar constantly when it comes to projecting himself as a national leader. Why play such petty political stunts?

The more we talk of dynastic politics, the more we see dynasties growing by leaps and bounds. From one all-powerful dynasty at the Centre, the disease has spread to all the States and we now have dynasties cutting across party lines. This shows our herd mentality and peculiar love for hero worship. No wonder politicians are exploiting this mentality to the hilt.
