The editorial “Sai Baba, his life and legacy” (April 26) was brilliant. Sai Baba transcended the barriers of religion and continents, and served humanity without bias. Though many leaders at the Centre and the States showed their proximity to Sai Baba, he never took undue advantage. He, in fact, used it for the betterment of humanity.
In his demise, the country has lost a great social reformer, thinker and spiritual leader. Puttaparthi drew devotees from across the world and people loved him for his concern and care.

The Hindu covered the passing away of Sri Satya Sai Baba extensively with rare photographs. The front-page close up of the mortal remains of Sai Baba, in particular, will be preserved by devotees. As a staunch devotee of Satya Sai Baba, I believe there is no need for fellow devotees to feel sad. Sai Baba will continue to support us and bless us.

There is no doubt that the staggeringly high value assets Sri Satya Sai Baba administered will give rise to questions about their management in future. But I am sure there are people who can manage the situation well.
History has taught us that a selfless and committed guru — like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa or Sri Ramana Maharishi — can give permanent life to their principles and institutions. It is hoped that a successor of impeccable conduct will take over the religious affairs of Prashanthi Nilayam.
