Price rise

July 29, 2010 11:42 pm | Updated 11:42 pm IST

This refers to the bedlam in Parliament over the issue of price rise. The increase in the prices of essential commodities has indeed exacerbated the problems of the common man. The poor have lost hopes of having even one square meal a day and the middle class families have been forced to limit their expenditure on other things so that they can have nutritious meals. The Opposition's concern over price rise is justified. But bandhs, strikes, and disruption of Parliament are not the solution to the problem. It should put forth alternative policies and solutions. Discussions and cooperation are the need of the hour.

Neeru Sharma,

I don't think the government can be blamed for the unavoidable price rise. The common man must accept that with growing economy come higher rates of inflation. One should appreciate the fact that the government has been subsidising various products — from petroleum products to foodgrains — for the benefit of people.
