Policy shift

This refers to the article “The gang that couldn't shoot straight” (July 8). Scams are indeed the symptoms of things going very wrong. The disease seems to be assuming epidemic proportions with checks and balances being ignored and systems bypassed. Unfortunately, the various cluttered actions of the government do not seem to be an effective antidote to the problem. It is true that the government is more inclined towards shifting its stance from the aam aadmi to corporates.

The article, with its punchlines, drove home the reality we face today. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should act without caring about political ramifications. He should take the corruption bull by its horns. Skeletons are tumbling out of the government's cupboard almost every day and Ministers seem to be like statues falling from corroding bases. Posterity will judge Dr. Singh by his actions.
