Pilots’ strike

September 11, 2009 02:07 am | Updated 02:07 am IST

The protest by the pilots of Jet Airways — with a number of them reporting sick over the ouster of two colleagues — is unfortunate. By resorting to such a lightning strike, they have put thousands of passengers in difficulty. Many have been stranded, many, I am sure, have lost important appointments, and who knows how many missed their interviews. It is truly shameful.

Even the educated and elite sections emphasise only their rights but do not think about responsibilities. Taking mass sick leave is not the solution for the crisis triggered by the ouster of two pilots, reportedly for their role in forming the National Aviators Guild. They should talk to the higher authorities and find a solution.
