Attack on media

July 19, 2010 11:37 pm | Updated 11:37 pm IST

This refers to the editorial “Hooliganism pure and simple” (July 19). The attack on the offices of HeadlinesToday is clearly a desperate attempt by the Sangh Parivar to silence the media using its traditional tools of hooliganism and vandalism. The self-proclaimed protectors of the Hindu religion are tarnishing the religion's ethos of peaceful and harmonious coexistence.

B. Praveen,

Tiruchi

Sangh Parivar hooliganism is nothing but an attempt to terrorise civil society into falling in line with its ideology. It has been emboldened by the inability of the system to stem cultural and moral policing by its rowdy brigades. Whenever the Sangh's nefarious activities are on the verge of being exposed, it frightens away the state from acting against its interests. Should not the government put down such acts with an iron hand? Why not expedite the investigation and expose the Sangh's hidden agenda of generalising all Muslims as terrorists?

Kasim Sait,
