>>In the front page graphic and in the text of the report, “ >JPC on Land Bill to meet today ” (July 22, 2015), it was stated: “The proposed provision to enable the States to frame and pass their own laws can be introduced under Section 254 (2) of the Constitution, which allows ... At present, 78 laws are in use … , all passed … under Section 254 (2) .” On both instances it should have been Article 254 (2) of the Constitution.
>>With reference to the report, “ >New Development Bank of BRICS opens in Shanghai ” (July 22, 2015), the correspondent’s clarification: The initial total committed resources of the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) shall be $100 billion, with the following individual commitments: China – $ 41 billion; Brazil – $18 billion; Russia – $18 billion; India – $18 billion and South Africa – $5 billion. Regarding Governance and Decision-Making, Article 39(vii-e) of Treaty for the Establishment of a BRICS CRA says: Whenever a decision is taken by weighted voting, the weight attributed to each party’s vote shall be determined as follows: (i) 5 per cent of total voting power shall be equally distributed among the parties; and (ii) the remainder shall be distributed among the parties according to the relative size of individual commitments .
>>The photo caption in the Sports page report, “ >Dominant PSB defeats Railways ” (July 22, 2015, early editions) erroneously said that Mumbai’s Harjeet Singh scored a brace against Indian Railways . Actually, it was against Karnataka .
