Corrections and clarifications - June 6, 2018

>>The Business page story, “M.K. Jain is Deputy Governor of RBI” (June 4, 2018), said that Mr. Jain took over as the Managing Director of IDBI Bank in March 2017 . It should have been April 2017 . It was an editing error.

>>A Science & Technology page article titled “Novel initiative to encourage science communication” (June 3,2018) erroneously said the Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research initiative would each year reward 100 best articles by PhD students with a cash prize of ₹ 1,00,000 each and a certificate of appreciation. The cash prize is ₹ 10,000 each . Besides, the best entry submitted by a post-doctoral fellow will be awarded ₹1,000,00.

>>The opening paragraph of “Sharp drop in tobacco smoking in India, says WHO report” (June 1, 2018) read: “From 19.4% in 2000, the prevalence of smoking tobacco in India dropped down to 11.5% in 2005 , according to a World Health Organisation report.” It should have been 11.5% in 2015 .

>>Late correction: A Sports page report headlined “Roland Garros beckons the champions and challengers” (May 27, 2018) erroneously stated that second seeded German Alexander Zverev would be the youngest men’s major winner since 20-year-old Juan Martin del Potro captured the 2009 U.S. Open. Actually, the youngest among men to win a grand slam so far is Michael Chang .
