>>Clarification: A front-page headline in some editions on August 6, 2016 of the report on the attack on Balajan Tiniali market of Kokrajhar district of Assam inadvertently used the word ‘men’ instead of ‘militants’. It should have read: “ >14 dead as militants target Assam market ”. The Editor has clarified that the mistake was made by the Editorial Desk and the reporter who filed the article was in no way responsible for the headline. He has also clarified that The Hindu regrets the headline and had no intention of offending the Bodo community.

>>“ >15-day I-Day fete begins today ” (August 9, 2016) talked about celebration of 70 years of Independence. It should have been 69 years of independence.

>>In “ >After Rajnath, will it be Jaitley’s turn in Pak? ” (August 8, 2016) the reference to Doctors with Borders should have been Doctors without Borders.

>>The report, “ >Railway Board sets new goal after zones fail to meet target ” (August 8, 2016, some editions), erroneously referred to A.K. Mittal as Member (Mechanical) . Actually, he is Member (Engineering) .
