Band Matters: In an attempt to re-interpret contemporary music and carry it forward to another level, Chennai-based band, Staccato, has traversed several paths seldom taken. Popular for its earthy and breezy compositions, the band is recognised for re-purposing classical music and breaking the lines between multiple genres to create music that is distinct and interesting. Staccato is equally at home with Raja or Rahman as it is with re-fashioning a Tyagaraja kriti from the Carnatic repertoire. Incidentally, Staccato is the first Indian band to perform at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.

Production Preview: Weaving notes into luscious melodies is Staccato’s forte. Their performance, inspired by the idea of Svara is an artful blend of vintage authenticity and modern romance. Packed with innovative own creations of their own as well as a host of crowd favourite commercial spin offs, this performance has something for everyone.
