AI fashion designer

At a recent fashion show in Hong Kong, viewers saw over 80 outfits from 14 designers that had been made with the help of an AI-based design tool. This was AiDA, which is short for ‘AI-based Interactive Design Assistant.’ The platform by AidLab let designers upload mood boards, sketches, and concepts in order to process them and produce an “original collection.” AI tools are growing in popularity in the creative sector while more everyday users experiment with AI-based art generators and photo editing apps.

Starlink goes live in Iran

Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted that Iran had almost 100 active Starlinks, or satellite-based internet access points. This announcement came three months after the billionaire promised to help Iranians freely access the internet. The country is in the midst of violent clashes as regime enforcers imprison and even execute civilians who are protesting after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in the custody of Iran’s “morality police” in September. The government has tried to shut down access to the internet and social media platforms to curb the protests. Starlink is also being used in Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s invasion.

Smartphone as a webcam

Smartphones come with better cameras but limited videoconferencing features, while laptops come with more sharing options but a less impressive camera. To get the best of both, there are several ways to link your smartphone to your PC, so that your phone can act as a webcam during your calls. While a number of apps promise to do just this, it’s important to assess your company’s policies, your own work equipment, and the battery life of your devices in order to make the best and most budget-friendly choice.
